J. Silva is a singer/songwriter from Chicago, her father is from Mexico and mother is from Puerto Rico. Her love for music came at a young age, singing around the house and writing songs. Fast-forward to now, J. Silva isn’t a stranger to DJ’s nationally. She recorded a remix to Jamie Foxx’s hit “Blame It,” titled “No Love,” and followed it up with her version of Drake’s “Best I Ever Had,” which was added to mix shows and mix tapes across the country quickly! In 2009 J. Silva released her first mix tape titled “Canvas Music,” gaining tons of downloads in less than 24 hours with no promotion on datpiff.com, icecreammixtapes.com and other online mix tape websites.
In 2011, J. Silva released her debut EP titled “Digital Candy” that features Chicago’s musical legends such as: Violator DJ Naki The Beatman, who has produced for Chris Brown, 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Twista, 3LW, Ying Yang Twins and rapper AK of the group Do Or Die. J. Silva has leant her voice to tracks “M.U.S.I.C.” by Atlanta rapper Jay Stonez produced by Cool & Dre, “So Addicted” by Yung Berg feat DNG and “Hold You Down” by Miami rapper Young Trey Rackz produced by Marvelous J.
J. Silva’s first single, “Call Me By My Name,” released on Interscope Digital is a major hit in clubs across the country and has a strong viral buzz. Her current single titled “Blowing Kisses” was featured on Chicago radio station WGCI as the “Download or Delete” song of the day with a 98% download rating. Radio stations across the country are supporting both records. The early believers are: Power 106fm Rockford, 93.1fm Jamz Madison, WPWX Chicago, Y100 Miami, WCPT, WSNX, K100, WJQM, JAMMIN’ 5280, MIX1620, MUSIC CHOICE and AOL RADIO. Both records are available on iTunes and many online stores. J. Silva also has pending songwriting placements with major artists. J. Silva is featured on Chris Brown’s “Beautiful People Remix”. All her hard work has not gone un-noticed.
In 2012 she was nominated for two Chicago Music Awards in the categories: “Pop Entertainer of the Year’ and ‘Best New Artist.’ She took home one award for “Best New Entertainer”. She’s currently touring in the states.
